Coming Soon to A News Stand (or High School Corridor) Near You! NJ Youth United Against War and Imperialism is ardently at work putting together the first issue of YO! Youth Organizer. We hope to hit the streets, the school corridors and the campuses with it early September. We intend to address many issues of concern to youth not the least of which are the endlessly escalating wars of imperialism. Other issues we hope to address include: Our statement of purpose Tuition hikes and youth joblessness Issues concerning to LGBT, Immigrant and Muslim youth The assault on NJ public education, teachers and public workers and the responsibility of youth Youth Incarceration The role of police in public schools Getting around high school and middle school repression of free speech to distribute our paper Military recruitment, NCLB, counter recruitment, the threat of a draft RAW Machine entourage: resistance through our music Fall mobilizations Harnessing political empowerment against imperialism and war Calendar Solidarity statements and ads In order to make this possible, we need some support from individuals and organizations that are interested in helping us motivate a youth movement of solidarity and against imperialism and austerity. We already have at least one organization, Central Jersey Coalition Against Endless War that has offered a generous contribution toward taking an ad out in the paper. We are inviting other anti-imperialist and allied organizations to do likewise. While the ad is yours to write, we suggest that you use it to promote any youth oriented projects of your organization. We are also welcoming individual contributions and solidarity statements. Another way to contribute toward expenses of the first issue is to order a quantity of papers from us for distribution. Please contact me for details about how to support the first issue of YO! We also will be looking for your support in helping us in getting the paper into the hands of thousands of youth. We begin this project in earnest. We do not know whether our paper and our organization will be successful. But we intend struggle to turn the pages of our paper into the pages of a new history and a renewed struggle against war, imperialism, austerity and for solidarity and justice. We look forward to working together with you on this project. For YO! |
